Nostalgic violin sounds

So The Krakow Opera decided to show Fiddler on the roof.
What is the most important it was performed in the open air.
As I perceive open spaces as the main way
to really open opera-
to make it more popular
and less highbrow
I was even more excited.
Especially that I really do love this musical.

This pic was taken
in Jewish-stylized cafe
before the performance.

The scenery was perfect.
It was not only situated in Jewish district,
but also in former municipal gaswork.
I dare to say that better scenery can not be found.

I am not objective
as I truly love this musical
and I was simply excited by every piece,
but still I think that Opera really did a good job this time.
It was humorous, but still kept in a proper atmosphere
with a hint of nostalgia.
Nostalgia for Jews who USED TO live here.
It reminded me about the campaign
"I miss you Jew"
when people were writing this sign
in places when Jews USED TO be present.
Such a thought was strongly expressed here as well
making it bitter-sweet in its taste.

As I saw the movie countless time
in the childhood
my personal nostalgia
followed the path.
As in the childhood
still now I had tears in my eyes

but some things do not change.

Food, opera, symbolism and instagram

This is going to be a mixed post.
Maybe the last one.
As I bought myself iPhone (she is called Anastazja :D )
 and started using Instagram
I will probably mostly use it for this kind of spam :)
Follow princess_lladia then :)

Last time posting cooking I promise.
Since now it all will go on Instagram!

Couscous balls
with vegetables

Eggplant casserole

To not look like a person
who only thinks about food (and clothes)
the pic of the book
with my chapter about Lolita Fashion.
First time in the book!

And now two outfits.
This one is for the opera
The love for three oranges.
The adaption was not able to catch
fairytale atmosphere,
but I still had fun.
Only fun I would add.
"Only" because the story about a prince
who goes on a journey to find three oranges
he fell in love with
has the much bigger potential!

This one was for the exhibition about Czech symbolism.
Matching dress, right:)

I was really excited for this exhibition.
It just made me think about the one I saw in Vienna
about Austrian symbolism.
Oh this was exactly where I met the painting
that attacked me so strongly I simply could not move.
I was almost terrified.
Still I can not look at this paining
(I mean postcard..)
for too long, because I finish completely out of tune.
Are you already curious?
Ok, it was Bernatzik's Eingang zum Paradeis.
Don't you know it?
Well, it is not famous or something.

Nothing special?
Well, just follow the way..
Follow it slowly, lose yourself there..
Still nothing?
Then maybe it is just me.

But I should be writing about the exhibition
about Czech symbolism...
I have not encountered Vienna deja vu, but
I dipped inside the fairytale world with Aquariuses,
wizards...but also death and dark figures.

Let's finish with Baudelaire's quote

At last my soul explodes! "Anywhere! Just so it is out of the world!"

OUT of the world.
Zum paradeis

Poznan, Parsifal and Takarazuka

I would like to post a few pics
from my trip to Poznań.
I went there for the conference about Asia
for students and young scholars.

My luggage
Anna Karenina for the long way
and my ballet shoes
to not miss my everyday's exercises
(have I written here that
I started taking ballet lessons?)

The conference was really interesting.
I listened to a lot of lectures
which were about the part of Asia
rather far from my academic field
and it is always so refreshing!
For example about Gagauz people
and the symbol of wolf in their culture.

It is also worth mentioning
that I met one visual kei fan
which encouraged me
to explore Takarazuka world closer.
Even thought I enjoyed the idea
of this theater for a long time
I did not have time/ motivation to look at it closer.
But oh gosh after seeing the character of Death
in Elisabeth I feel fully motivated to change it!

Death looking like Kamijo.
I am absolutely charmed by the idea of Death
looking like a beautiful, long-haired man
who continually follows my dear Sissi.

Sissi longed for Death. She was fascinated by it.
Was it because she imagined it as the delicate,
but dangerous man,
mysterious and charming?
The Kingdom of Dead
with its secret charm
suited her better than
Austrian Empire
with stiff and plain Franz Joseph.

Watch this :3

Oh, I was going to write about Poznan.
So a few pics.
Love the colorful tenement houses.

This place.
Kaya. Satsuki. Memories:3

And finally: opera.
Of course I could not miss it.
I am so jealous!
Poznan has such a beautiful opera!
Perfectly located: close to the castle and park
and classical in its forms with sophisticated interiors.

Pegasus on the roof
taking you up with every sound

Together with my aunt I went
to see Wagner's Parsifal.
And what can I say..
this opera got the better of me.
Maybe not even opera itself,
but Wagner's music definitely did it.
It was my first time hearing his music live
and I am simply speechless.
When hearing it on my computer and on tv
it was always like
so that's Wagner, that's nice,
but live... omg it's so monumental, mighty..
you simply feel like losing ground..
I have no idea what the story was about...
in fact the production design was poor,
the same like costumes and singer's acting...
so it only helped me to forget
that this even has any plot..
The music won it all.
I just remember myself
when looking at this gorgeous chandelier
with the full surprise that it is still in its place.
How can it bear all this power without
the dramatic fall on the ground which this music deserved?

Rusalka, Bubble tea and random pics

Some daily pics :)
I like to post them for myself.
It makes me better remember
small moments.

But first of all:
Rusalka.
Cinema transmission:
live from Metropolitan Opera!

If you ask me what kind of opera I like..
I say: this kind!
Met's Rusalka is just this type.
Beautiful and nostalgic music,
unbelievable set design
(sometimes you just forget that it is "just the stage")
and costumes.
And fairy tale atmosphere.
Dark fairy tale-like.
The story very similar to The Little Mermaid.
And Piotr Beczała as the prince.
And unforgettable Song to the Moon:.
I still can not even speak about it
without emotions...

Above all I remember one scene:
Rusalka is left alone on dark castle stairs.
She knows that the prince has left her.
All is gone and they both can not escape
from Jezibaba's curse...
At this moment
you feel that she should sing a dramatic aria.
Everything asks for this aria. Beg for it...
You almost hear it in your heart...
but she can not sing it loud,
because she has devoted her voice
for Prince's love
that is now gone.
There is nothing left.
Even aria can not be sung.
Her pain can not even reach this kind of sense.
Oh this it too sad to even think about it...
The lost voice of an opera heroine...
it is like taking the essence of her...
and taking it for nothing...

Anyway: my outfit from this day.

Except it
(and lots of uni work)
I spend my time on some
small pleasures.

Cooking
Cannelloni with spinach

Reading
Jane Austin when eating
cranberries in chocolate :3

Watching
(I can't even express
how much I love Frozen)

Meeting friends

Cakes

(Cafe looks nice,
but the cake was not that good...)

Bubble tea
with my best friend :3

My full outfit

And selfie xD

Food, books, movies so to
complete the post: music :3
Catch this :D

For the end of the day:
Macaroons bath :3

The Haunted Manor and Coppelia

The New Year was properly started with an opera
The Haunted Manor.

My outfit was dark
for the haunted manor.
Even if this manor was not that scary in fact ;)

One nice old lady said that
I looked like Coppelia.
Best compliment ever
as I really love that ballet.

Btw don't you think that Coppelia
is one of the saddest love story ever written?
And they call it comic ballet.
Franz fell in love with the girl
who showed up to be a doll.
He was forced to come back
to reality,
his dream was harshly ended.
Castle of Dreams and Rose Twilight
were all at once destroyed
as Kaya sings in his beautiful
song Coppelia.
Is it so comic?

Oh gosh I was supposed to write
about The Haunted Manor
and I finished with Coppelia...

So going back to the main point:
gorgeous Aria with Carillon.
so sad so longing..
Listen to it here sang by an amazing Polish tenor
Piotr Beczała

Tosca in Vienna

Continuing my Vienna spam..
Wiener Staatsoper :3

I will skip the detailed review
as I already wrote it in Polish (for my uni supervisor)
and don't feel like writing it once again.
Here I will limit myself to silly 'ah and oh' feelings :3

Vienna is really the city of classical music.
It is everywhere.
In Vienna opera really seems to be much more
popular and commercialized.
You can buy a ticket on the street.
You can also watch the live opera transmission
every evening on the screen which is situated on the building!
Such a magnificent idea!
We were going home one evening and we just stopped for a while
to listen to Toreador's song from Carmen.
Oh gosh I want to live there!

You see how many people watch it.

We also visited Opera Museum

Here is me outside the Opera

We chose Tosca.
The cast was hanging outside and inside
the building.

Interior
So beautiful.
Just after entrance you feel like being taken
to the other world.
Gold. Gold.

Here is the Tea Room
where Franz Joseph spent intermissions.
You can rent it for 500 euro/20 min.
+tea costs xD

Balcony
You can drink your intermission cafe here.

I absolutely love their toilets.
They had special room to check you make-up.

This is how the program looked.
Quite elegant,
but only synopsis was in English.

I like that you can choose the language of
your subtitles individually.

Shortly about the opera?
We chose classical Tosca.
Quite old, typical performance
with a wonderful cast (for this evening):
Marcelo Alvarez and Angela Gheorghiu.
I have never heard the tenor like him before.
He was easily reigning with his voice
over the orchestra.
She was a charming prima donna and innocent little girl
who killed when pressed to it.

Alvarez's E lucevan le stelle-
I will keep among my most beautiful memories.

You can listen him here
and angelic Angela here :3

The power of every masterpiece opera lies in the fact
that no matter how well you know libretto,
how many times you have watched the story
you will experience it once again
and finish with your heart half-broken.
